This commission has more objectives than the other two initiatives mentioned, but they are similar nonetheless.  These objectives include eradicating the species Rhondnius prolixus, reducing the infestation of the species Triatoma dimidiate as well as eliminating transmission of the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi in blood banks (Ponce, 41).  In addition, a fundamental goal of the Commission is to maintain cooperation between the countries and to facilitate “knowledge and experience exchange between the member countries to strengthen the prevention and control interventions” (Ponce, 41).
