Even
though there has been a lot of progress in the fight against Chagas disease,
there are still challenges that Latin America continues to face. As was
noted in Venezuela, it is necessary to continue control efforts even when
substantial progress has been made. Venezuela had reduced its transmission
rate considerably and therefore decided to reduce its control activities
accordingly. Unfortunately, vector-borne transmission problems reappeared
shortly after (Guhl, 36). This showed that even though a country may be
successful with its efforts, they must continue these efforts if they want
to retain their progress.
