To continue, there have been ongoing challenges in terms of eliminating the triatomine bug in various countries.  In some countries, surveillance of the triatomine bug species has not been adequate.  Some of these species have even become resistant to the insecticide used which is why it is necessary to continue to do research on effective methods to eliminate this bug.  Furthermore, the bugs do not just live in dwellings necessarily and often infect animals.  Therefore, it is difficult to control with animals being possible means of transmission, as well.
