If you look at what happened for corn for instance, so on the right-hand side you can see what corn looks like in most supermarkets these days in the west, on the left this is Teosinte.  This is the original corn that used to grow in the forests of Central America.  It doesn't look anything like the corn that grows today, and along the way people have slowly adapted and now we have this beautiful corn because we have selected the things that look good, that sell well, they taste good and this is how we make plants.
