For developed countries food isn't really a problem except for those that don't distribute it fairly to the poor people, but for the developing countries it is a major problem and it's not just the quantity of food, it's the nutritional value of food and all of this can be improved using GM methods.  The bottom line is we need a lot more science in politics and ideally, a lot less politics in science.
