Between 1997 and 1999, 12 regional health authorities (RHAs) were established in Manitoba. Each RHA is responsible for the planning, integration and monitoring of health care services in their region.

To make informed decisions, regional health planners need data that show the relationship between population health status, socio-economic status, supply and distribution of health services and the way health services are used. These relationships are key to understanding population health.3

Using the comprehensive Population Health Information System (POPULIS), researchers at MCHP are able to provide such data.
