It is important to compare the health status of your area to other regions. Premature mortality and life expectancy are two of the most generally accepted indicators.

The ACG morbidity index is a contact based measure of individual health status developed at Johns Hopkins University.5

After further validation, MCHP will consider its applicability to individual regions.

Questions to consider:

1. Do all three indicators tell the same story? Does it make sense?

2. Are there differences in sub-regions of the area?

3. How do the results translate into health care delivery needs?
