In this lecture, we have shown how researchers can use administrative data to help inform the decision-making at the regional level. Local planners can use the data to develop a clearer understanding of:

- The health status of their residents

- The use of health services by their residents

- The resources in their regions & whether they meet the residents' needs

To date, responses from the Manitoba RHAs have been favorable. Each region appreciates having both its own information and the comparative perspective provided by other regions' data.

Administrative data have great potential to provide information across a wide range of health indicators which is not only timely, but also not readily available using other methodologies.
