MCHP has identified eight profiles that focus on residents’ health status and use of health care services that can help regional planners understand the needs and resources of their regions.4

Once such profiles are developed, comparisons can be made across different regions and to provincial/state averages. As part of a recent deliverable, MCHP has made available via the Internet, profile data for each RHA in Manitoba. These data highlight summary information of key indicators.

The following slide uses two graphs from these profiles to show how the data can be used to determine if the population’s health needs are being met.

Planners must be trained to use such data effectively; training issues will be discussed later.
