New Pitt Program Addresses Pre-Diabetes Concerns Amid Pandemic

The pandemic has made it challenging to stay active and make healthy lifestyle choices. If you have gained weight or struggled to maintain activity and are among the one in three U.S. adults with pre-diabetes, a new Pitt-created diabetes prevention program may help.

Offered through by the University’s Comprehensive Medication Management, the Group Lifestyle Balance program aims to help people who are concerned they may have pre-diabetes or have been diagnosed by their doctors. Beginning in January 2021, the no-cost program will use remote classes to help participants lose weight, become more physically active and reduce stress.

In addition to learning health management skills, participants will receive Fitbit activity products and guidance from a pharmacist trained in lifestyle coaching. Interested participants should email pharmacist Natalie Capozzolo at mymeds [at] pitt.edu by Monday, Dec. 14.
