Applications for $50,000 in funding are being accepted by the Virginia Kaufman Pain Research Challenge from the Clinical and Translational Science Institute at Pitt.

Proposals should address a specific problem in the area of acute or chronic pain, and solutions can address either physiological or psychological aspects of pain. An emphasis will be placed on submissions that outline a distinct path to impact.

Principal investigators must be University of Pittsburgh faculty, and teams are encouraged to include cross-disciplinary collaborations. The award covers direct costs for a 12-month project, as well as project management support during this period.

The Pain Research Challenge is sponsored by the Virginia Kaufman Endowment Fund and administered by the Clinical & Translational Science Institute at Pitt.

Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. Feb. 14.
