Each academic year, the Office of the Provost identifies a theme that unites the University of Pittsburgh community. The 2023-24 Year of Discourse and Dialogue hopes to probe the ways to harness the power of differing views and perceptions to enrich our campus community.

The University offer many engagement opportunities. In addition, Pitt will award funding to ideas for programs, experiences and opportunities that leverage the unique capacities of our University and advance learning.

The Year of Discourse and Dialogue Steering Committee invites students, staff and faculty from all Pitt campuses to submit applications to support activities connected to the theme. The University will award up to $5,000 to support faculty, staff, student, administrator, supervisor and general community efforts that advance learning, research, engagement or practice around discourse and dialogue are invited.

The first application cycle is now open and closes on Dec. 1. The second proposal period begins Jan. 1 and ends Feb. 1. See the full call for proposals for more information.
