December graduates, RSVP for Winter Commencement by Dec. 6

Two graduates celebrate after they cross the stage at Pitt's commencement

To celebrate the achievements of every graduate in a timely and special way, the University of Pittsburgh will hold its first Winter Commencement ceremony — complete with confetti and "Sweet Caroline" — at the Petersen Events Center at 2 p.m. Dec. 17.

Going forward, a winter ceremony will recognize undergraduate and graduate students who earn their degrees between May and December, while the spring ceremony will remain for undergraduates who complete their graduation requirements between January and April.

Students who have earned or will earn a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree between May and December 2023 and wish to attend the ceremony must RSVP through their personal invitation to the ceremony, which was sent from the Office of Special Events on Oct. 16.

Each registered candidate will receive a minimum of four electronic tickets for guests via Ticketmaster. A final number of tickets each candidate will receive will be determined after the registration deadline, which is 5 p.m. Dec. 6. No late registrations will be accepted.
