Thomas Platt became a fellow of the Academy of Emergency Medical Services

Thomas Platt, associate dean for academic partnerships in Pitt’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, earned a Fellow of the Academy of Emergency Medical Services designation from the National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP).

The honor was established in ​2016 to recognize NAEMSP members who have made special contributions to the association and the subspecialty of EMS medicine. Platt, who is the chair of and a professor in Pitt’s Department of Community Health Services and Rehabilitation Science, is among 71 members of the Class of 2023, and joins 464 previously designated fellows.

Platt (CGS ’95, EDUC ’07G) has more than 30 years of experience in EMS and has served as principal investigator for projects with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the U.S. Department of Transportation. He completed his bachelor’s degree in public administration and a doctoral degree in instructional design at Pitt as well as a master's degree in adult education at Penn State.
