'Pitt to the Point' earned 3 Emmy Award nominations

Cameras are pointed at two anchors in the Pitt Studios

“Pitt to the Point” received Emmy Award nominations for three of its news segments.

The live TV program, which is reported and produced as part of an advanced practicum course, airs Fridays on YouTube at 8 a.m. and on KDKA-TV’s streaming platform at noon. Here are this year’s nominated segments and students:

  • “Pittsburgh’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade,” by reporter Anthony Sichi (CGS ’23)
  • “Irish Design Center,” by producer Natalie Belin (CGS ’23) and reporter Alexandra Ross (A&S ’23)
  • “Trash Bot: The New AI Solution to Recycling/Ansys — Innovations at Pitt and Around the World,” by News Director Michelle Lichtstein, reporter Maggie McLeod, production assistant Adam Stout (CGS ’23) and photographer/editor Joey Tebben (CGS ’23)

Winners will be named during the Mid-Atlantic College/University Production Awards for Excellence Emmy Awards ceremony on Oct. 14.

Alumna Livia Rappaport (A&S ’22), who worked on the show as a student, earned her first Emmy Award nomination for her work as an editor on KDKA-TV’s segment “Fred & His Violin.”
