Noble A-W Maseru earns Health Equity Champion award

Noble A-W Maseru, director of social justice, racial equity and faculty engagement in the Office of Health Sciences Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and professor of public health practice, has earned the Health Equity Champion award.

He received the honor April 6 during the 2022 Pennsylvania Health Equity Summit, which was co-hosted by the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Office of Health Equity and presented by its director, David Saunders.

Maseru’s career spans 40 years in the areas of human services, academia and public health. He accepted the appointment in Pitt health sciences in 2020 after serving as associate dean for diversity and inclusion and director for the Center for Health Equity at Pitt Public Health since 2017. He retired in 2016 after ten years of public service as Cincinnati’s health commissioner.
