A study on education’s long-term benefit on heart health by Jared Magnani, associate professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, was published in JAMA Cardiology.

The paper found lower educational attainment was associated with lifetime cardiovascular disease risk across adulthood while higher education translated to healthy longevity. The study, conducted with researchers from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, highlights the Magnani Lab’s work on the importance of considering social determinants of health in patient care as well as clinical trials and research design.

Magnani serves on the American Heart Journal editorial board and is associate editor of its AHJ Plus publication. He sat on EPI Statistics and Social Determinants committees for the American Heart Association and has also served on a study section for the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
