Pitt’s Healthy Home Laboratory is an AARP AgeTech Collaborative testbed site

The Healthy Home Laboratory (HLL) at the University of Pittsburgh joined the AgeTech Collaborative from AARP as a testbed site. The HLL team will test and evaluate products and services from the AgeTech ecosystem of companies that support independence for seniors and people with disabilities.

The HLL is a 105-year-old demonstration home and community-based laboratory studying how to adapt and equip a home for people as they age and as their needs and abilities change. The team also provides real-world interventions, partnering with programs like the Community Aging in Place—Advancing Better Living for Elders (CAPABLE) and Pitt’s Center for Assistive Technology to support independence among aging adults.

Membership in the AARP collaborative allows the HLL to not only test new products and services, but provide those age-in-place and assistive technology innovations to patients.
