The 2024 Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) conference in Boston showcased the contributions of the Division of General Internal Medicine. More than 60 posters, 30-plus workshops, panels, and interest groups, and multiple awardees affirmed the Pitt division's role in advancing research, leadership and education within the field.

Timothy Anderson (pictured, left), assistant professor of medicine, was awarded the Frederick L. Brancati Mentorship and Leadership Award. This award was established by SGIM and the Association of Chiefs and Leaders of General Internal Medicine to honor junior faculty who continuously motivate trainees to transform health care through research, education and practice.

Jennifer Corbelli, associate professor of medicine and vice chair for education in the University’s Department of Medicine, earned the National Award for Scholarship in Medical Education. This award celebrates those with diverse and original contributions in enhancing medical education through scholarship of integration, educational methods and teaching, and the career development of clinician educators.
