Pitt placed across all subjects in the 2024 QS World University Rankings

The University of Pittsburgh was ranked in 32 of 47 subjects in the 2024 QS World University Rankings by Subject. Pitt’s success ranged widely, as it ranked in all five broad subject areas: Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences and Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences and Management.

Other notable accomplishments from this year include:

  • The School of Dental Medicine ranked for the first time
  • The School of Medicine jumped three spots to No. 59
  • Pitt’s Department of Philosophy remains ranked No. 5 in the world
  • The School of Nursing is No. 28 internationally, up seven spots from last year
  • In Library and Information Management, Pitt moved up three spots to No. 17

In the annual portfolio of college and university rankings assembled by Quacquarelli Symonds, universities are ranked through a combination of five indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per paper, h-index, and international research network.
