The University of Pittsburgh Staff Council honored four employees with the 2024 Frisch Staff Professional Development awards.

The award supports Pitt staff members’ goal to enhance their professional and personal engagement at the University by pursuing professional development opportunities. It is designed to help cover expenses, including tuition at Pitt, attendance at professional conferences and participation in workshops, training sessions and more.

This year’s winners are:

  • José Goyco-Blas, a manager in Pitt’s Kohl Lab
  • Valerie Kerr, graduate engineering professional development consultant in the Swanson School of Engineering
  • Carolyn Mazzella, sponsored projects administrator in the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences
  • Allison Vorp, a research administrator in the School of Medicine.

Staff Council serves as a center for input and dissemination of information and provides a means of communication between staff and others at Pitt. Membership is comprised of University staff representations as well as officers elected by council membership.
