The NPPTL and PPT Program logic model is an important tool used by NPPTL for planning and decision making activities.  The logic model identifies both programmatic and planning inputs NPPTL relies on to provide insight into its decision making process.

Planning inputs for the program are numerous.  Strategic planning activities are conducted to help arrive at decisions that are made regarding PPT activities.  First, all inputs are assessed and used to validate the current activities.  On-going projects or concepts are vigorously evaluated through the NPPTL peer review process, stakeholder input to the NIOSH dockets, stakeholder and public meetings, and periodic intramural review.  The peer review process addresses project proposals and projects after the NPPTL senior management team has approved a project concept for funding.  Relevance and potential impact are among the critical factors assessed when considering a concept for project development.
