Final Thoughts

Reinforce how proud you are of each participant and their efforts, and know how proud they must be of themselves.

Any final questions from the participants?

Use this time to address any last minute concerns they may have about "going it alone" Reassure them that with the tools they have learned they will succeed and have the freedom from smoking!

Test each participant on the Carbon Monoxide machine. Use this test to encourage them on their path to good health. Remind them of where they were only 4 short weeks ago and how far they have come. They are to be congratulated!

Pass out the completion certificates.

Great Job!

Key Points To Remember

Do not talk down to the participant.

Illiteracy does not mean lack of intelligence.

Keep the information simple do not use "medical terminology".

Explain at the introduction that no "homework" will be assigned and participants will not have any reading assignments.

Do not use nametags, some participants will not be able to write and this might cause embarrassment.

Emphasize with the participant their success will be equal to their commitment.

In order for them to be successful they must want to quit, this program will make them quit; you are here to give them the tools and direction to help them achieve their goals.

Discuss with the participants how important behavior modification is to the success of their program.

Remind participants frequently that quitting is a process that occurs over time.
