SLIPS

Do NOT give up. Tell participants to renew their commitment to cessation and do not let this slip cause them to feel down about themselves.

Start again, do not allow one slip to cause you to "give up" all your hard work,(use example of someone on a diet may eat a piece of cake while on a diet, it’s a slip, they did not eat a whole cake!)

If you have bought a pack of cigarettes throw them out before they tempt you again.

If someone gave you "just one" make a commitment to yourself not to ask anyone and not to accept one if someone offers it to you.

Learn form this situation

Have a plan of what you would do differently if confronted again.

Ask for help, from a "buddy" or your cessation instructor. Use the Quit Line.
