This lecture is intended to give an overview of TB (Tuberculosis) before (1850 – 1950) and after (1950 - onwards) the advent of anti-tuberculosis drugs. Definitions used in Public Health Reports / Surveys will be given. The factors contributing to infection, progression of disease, morbidity and mortality of the population, and the possibility to eliminate the disease are reviewed.
