A current trend in the world of healthcare fashion is to decorate N95 respirators with covers, sequins, marker, or other alterations. This voids the NIOSH approval. The filter of the respirator (in the case of an N95 FFR, this is the entire facemask) must be complete exposed and not covered by any other object. Any decorative flair added to the respirator could potentially decrease the effectiveness of the filter.
