Myth: We recently experienced a pandemic a few years ago, so we do not have to worry about another one for another ten years or so.

Fact: The duration between pandemics is unpredictable. The occurrence of a pandemic depends upon the mutation of the influenza virus to be able to transmit to humans, as well as human to human transmission. Therefore, we don't know when the next outbreak will be and we can't foresee with any level of certainty, how severe it will be. Despite the warning signs that another pandemic something is very possible, there does not seem to be a sense of urgency. However, government agencies and industry are working to provide planning and put action plans into place. Unfortunately, the general public doesn't seem to go beyond indifference in anticipation of possible pandemic.
