“Mature,” in this context, means that the Internet is now commercially operational and widely used. Of course, the infrastructure and the applications are still evolving, but the levels of commercial support and use are quite remarkable.
Similarly, it is probably too early to know all the ways the Internet will change the delivery of health information AND of health services. Nevertheless, I believe there is justification for concerns. We need to monitor health and medicine applications on the Internet, especially those available to the public, to insure high quality and conformity to reasonable standards.
