There are privacy concerns in education, employment, financial transactions, and many other areas. But privacy in the provision of health and medical services is often viewed as of paramount importance. Privacy has several aspects. We can imagine differing legal regimes for different aspects—we could permit individuals to give up some of their privacy rights, trade others for economic gain, and might prohibit some “transactions” that result in loss of privacy.
