This is part of a 1998 article by Rick Mendosa on the American Diabetes Association web site. The third paragraph discusses Lilly’s proposed discontinuation of Iletin, an insulin produced from animals (beef/pork insulin).
There is an interesting history here—during 1998 a writer first disclosed Lilly’s plans in an article in the ADA’s magazine for its members. The plan then received even wider distribution via the Internet coverage. Lilly, on the other hand, wanted to manage the distribution of this “news,” as you can see by the last paragraph.
[In addition, I should mention that you will not find this page, as shown here, on the Internet. I have edited it to get the relevant parts on this slide. (Is this another example of misrepresentation?)]
