Swimming pool water is continuously polluted by swimmers who are sources of organic compounds and microrganisms. Continuous pool water disinfection is needed in order to minimise the risk of microbiological pollution: disinfection is usually performed by chlorine. However pool water chlorination leads to many chlorinated by-products: the most represented ones are trihalomethanes (THMs). Besides, many other compounds such as halogenated acetic acids, acetonitriles and hydrocarbons were identified.
