It is important to use tables based on sex, age and height for determining percentiles in children and youth.

BP should be measured routinely in all visits for children over the age of 3 years.

If hypertension is present, initially institute nonpharmacological treatment with sodium restriction (no added salt diet) and weight reduction when appropriate.

If Blood pressure elevation is severe, or nonpharmacological treatments do not work, refer children to hypertension specialists for pharmacologic therapy.  This means you!
