The two divisions are mountainous and share a common border with Nigeria. The population is concentrated in villages and quarters except for the Fulanis who settle in the bush with their cows and frequent the villages on Fridays for their mosque activities and prayers, on market days to buy household items and on weekly cattle market days to sell their animals. About 90 % of the population in these two divisions live in rural areas.

In the North West province, there are 16 different church associations but the major ones are Baptist, Catholic and Presbyterian. The remaining 13 denominations include Deeper Life, Full Gospel, Apostolic, Church of Christ, Bahai and many other new generation churches. Table 3(table3.htm) shows an estimate of the population of different FBOs in the North West province.

The major church denominations in the Donga –Mantung and Menchum divisions are the Baptist, Catholic and Presbyterian. Many new generation churches have come up in these divisions. Table 4 gives an estimate of the congregational members in these two divisions.
