Control of an external document implies that:
  • it is included in a list;
  • the version (number or date) is included if applicable;
  • the document is available to staff who need to use it;
  • staff cannot accidentally use obsolete versions of the document.
  • If the document is one for which periodic updates are expected, and where it matters that the update is adopted promptly (e.g. for government regulations) then the organisation should ensure that it keeps abreast of changes to the document.
