Background:Investigators are exploring the potential beneficial effects of Sodium Valproate treatment on cognitive and functional outcomes in early course schizophrenia patients. The study is conducted with both patients who have and have not been exposed to the parasitic protozoan Toxoplasma Gondi virus. We hypthothesise that adjunctive Sodium Valproate treatment will improve clinical symptoms and cognitive and social function in schizophrenia, particularly among Tox exposed patients. This case-control study is being conducted at Mansoura University Hospital, Mansoura, Egypt.
