All public health data from countries with well established influenza surveillance systems confirmed that the numbers and rates of flu deaths during the 2009 Swine flu “pandemic” were not large.   However, WHO cautioned up through early 2010 that possible or potential viral mutations might cause the 2009 H1N1 virus to turn more severe/pathogenic/virulent and did not declare an official end of the “pandemic” until August, 2010.  WHO and CDC, to my knowledge, never commented on the effectiveness or lack of effectiveness of prevention/control measures for the 2009 “pandemic”, other than WHO’s pronouncement in April, 2009 that it was apparent that the 2009 H1N1 virus was spreading rapidly and international travel restrictions were not effective and thus not recommended.
