The mortality impact of the 1918 flu pandemic in the USA was by far the most severe of any flu pandemic ever.  However, the influenza mortality rate (IMR) of over 500/100,000 population in the USA was about 3-times less than the estimated global IMR of about 1,500/100,000, and 5-6 times less than the IMR estimated in India!
