NIAAA’s mission is to support and promote the best science on alcohol and health for the benefit of all. In this pursuit, we use multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches to increase the understanding of normal and abnormal biology and behavior related to alcohol use, to improve diagnosis, prevention and treatment, and to enhance quality health care. The identification of research priorities and resource development areas for alcohol research is an ongoing process at NIAAA.
