In Nisei men, prevalence of diabetes at baseline was 20.0% and IGT was 36.1%. 5 years later, diabetes was increased to 26.9% but IGT was slightly decreased. In Nisei women, prevalence of diabetes at baseline was 16.1% and IGT was 39.7%. After 6 years, prevalence of diabetes was increased 2-fold to 31.9%, and IGT was 44.7%. In Sansei men, prevalence of diabetes was 4.2% and IGT was 18.3% at baseline. After 6 years, prevalence of diabetes was 13.3%, a greater than 3-fold increase, and IGT was increased to 31.0%. In Sansei women, prevalence of diabetes was 2.5% and IGT was 30.5% at baseline study. After 6 years, prevalence of diabetes was 5.0% and IGT was 46.5%.
