What’s interesting is that they all said “Yes, we think sigmoidoscopy is very important and we agree with the American Cancer Society.” We didn’t ask them what the American Cancer Society recommended, because we knew they didn’t know the answers. I don’t mean to belittle them. I just mean to say there was obviously a very poor understanding then about sigmoidoscopy and what had been found. These were the barriers they cited. This low probability of finding a lesion epitomized to me the barriers that we have in terms of education.
