A letter may signify an agreement, but may also be a request.

 

I use business letter today in communicating with superintendents, to introduce my slef ans aks can we meet

 

The classic business letter

First Paragraph:  Our company has done business with yours.  You want the person to read this, and think, I know you, I agree with you.

Second paragraph:  Bridge to third paragraph, additional information.  Non-controversial.  Reinforce first paragraph.

Third paragraph – ask.  Be specific.

Additional paragraphs – additional details regarding ask.  Anything controversial should come after the ask.  You should always make sure that the person knows how to contact you by telephone or email, if a written reply is not necessary.

SIMILAR format when you're sending bad news.

GOOD NEWS, put in first paragraph:  I am happy to inform you that you have been acceprted to the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
