· This graph shows that the frequency of respiratory signs increased in cats but not dogs in Louisiana and Mississippi several weeks after hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf coast. Studies were not conducted to determine the etiology of the respiratory signs.
· A similar increase in respiratory disease was noted in people who were living in shelters in the same area.
