1. Demographic Profile – the ‘extremes of age’ indicator measures the size & composition of vulnerable groups. Patterns of illness vary according to age distribution (e.g. younger populations typically have more injuries, while older populations have more deaths and incidents of chronic disease). 

2. Low Weight Births (<2500 gm) 2 – measures the proportion of at risk infants in a community. Low birth weight babies are at a higher risk for future health problems.

3. Health Care System Sensitive Indicators – measures the impact of medical treatment outcomes on subsequent utilization, and include mortality-base and hospitalization-based measures such as avoidable hospitalizations 3 and/or conditions amenable to medical treatment. 4
