THE BYZANTINE CHOIR OF THE METROPOLIS
The Byzantine Choir of our Metropolis was founded in 1998
with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Maximos.
The Choir consists of students of the Byzantine Music
Workshop, the chantors of the Greek Orthodox parishes of
Western Pennsylvania and musicophiles in general.
Occasionally, for formal presentations, the Choir is
joined by reknown chantors from different parts of the
USA and Canada.
The choir has been joined by reknown chantors such as
George Hatzichronoglou, Archon Hymnodist of the Great
Church of Christ and Professor Constantin Lagouros,
Archon Chantor of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of
Toronto (Canada) to the USA. It has published two CDs
with hymns in Greek and English in strict and authentic
Byzantine tradition of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of
Constantinople.
The choir performs Byzantine Music in Greek, English,
French and Arabic. The style is strictly traditional and
Patriarchal.
The choir has been invited to a number of academic and
religious events locally and across the USA for
lecture-performance.
It has also celebrated wedding and baptism services in
traditional Orthodox style.
