Center for Philosophy of Science
Sixth Quadrennial Fellows Conference 2008
Travel Arrangements

Dear Visiting and Resident Fellows,

The Quadrennial conference will be held at Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, with arrival on Sunday, July 20th and departure on the morning of Thursday, July 24th.

For those of you flying to the conference, the nearest airport is Port Columbus International Airport, airport code CMH.  The airport is approximately 90 minutes drive from Ohio University.  The conference will be arranging complimentary van transportation between Columbus airport and Ohio University.

Vans will be scheduled to leave Columbus airport between 3pm and 10pm on Sunday July 20th.  Vans will be scheduled to return to Columbus airport on Thursday, July 24th arriving between 9am and 3 pm.

If you want to take advantage of these vans, please book your arrival and departure times so that they fall within these windows.  In order for us to reserve space for you on the vans, please let us know your arrival and departure times as soon as you have made your bookings and no later than June 10th.

If you are unable to coordinate your arrival and departure with these times, you can use a limousine service at your cost.  Unfortunately, they are quite expensive, though less so for larger parties.  For details, check out these websites:

Airfare prices can be erratic and conference attendees may find it more economical to fly into Pittsburgh rather than Columbus.

For those traveling to the conference from Pittsburgh, we will have a van leaving Pittsburgh at 3pm on Sunday, July 20th and returning Thursday, July 24th, departing Ohio University at 9am.  The trip to Athens from Pittsburgh is a little longer than the trip from the airport in Columbus, 3-1/2 hours rather than 90 minutes.  If you would like a place on the van, please let Peter know immediately at peg1@pitt.edu so that we can reserve a seat for you.
