Times and costs only related to staff time and hospital provided transport. Times were estimates made by the staff directly involved. To get a better estimation a prospective study could have been carried out measuring real time. The greater accuracy that this would have added was not felt to be worth the extra burden it would have placed on already busy staff.

Obviously even when the barriers are removed the clinic will not be one-stop all the time - staff holidays, sickness, human error etc. and so cost savings were calculated at 100% and 90%.

At 90% one-stop savings in staff time were estimated at 103 hours per year. Savings from hospital transport between Ł750 and Ł2100 per year depending on the type of transport needed.

The cost of providing an ultrasound facility on the same day as the clinic is Ł3000 per annum.
