There are 2 consultants who provide a service throughout the clinic. Mr Appleyard’s patients in the main get a one-stop service because they are fewer in number and the radiology department has the capacity to be able to give them an ultrasound scan on the same day as the clinic.

Mr Shaikh sees too many patients (Maximum 12) for the radiology department to cope with. His patients have to have another appointment made for the ultrasound examination (with a waiting list of several months).

Occasionally GPs had not initiated blood and urine tests and so the results were not available when the patients attended clinic. This is a minor problem compared to the ultrasound and is easily resolvable by writing to GPs and reminding them.
