It can be stated that, health impact assessment grow up on the back of environmental impact assessment which was legally accepted and frequently institutionalized after 1969 in several countires. Health impact assessment began to develop as a separate methodology in 90’s mostly in New Zealand, Australia, Canada – British Columbia. In Europe, the moving force of health impact assessment was mostly in Germany and the Netherlands by addressing environmentla health issues and conducting assessments on enviornmental health topics in close relation to enviornmental impact assessment. Finland and Sweden made important contribution to development of health impact assessment by broadening its focus to policy issues also in 90’s followed in second half of 90’s by United Kingdom where HIA becme extremely well positioned and accepted after 1998. The disciplines ranked as the closest in relation to HIA during its development are epidemiology, environmentla health, risk assessment, but also social sciences as sociology, politology, and others.
