For Substance Use DALYS: the dissertation first says this:

In 2002, there were approximately 20.3 million DALYs attributable to alcohol use

disorders among WHO Member States. There were approximately 7.4 million DALYs attributable to drug

use disorders in 2002.

And then this:

Overall, the coefficient for the association between deaths due

to terrorism, civil war and one-sided violence and alcohol use disorder DALYs was 0.10,

indicating that a 1.0% increase in deaths due to terrorism, war and one-sided violence from

1994-2000 was associated with a 0.10% increase in alcohol use disorder DALYs in 2002.

Further, a 1.0% increase in deaths due to terrorism, war and one-sided violence was associated

with 0.12% and 0.14% increase in DALYs lost to drug use disorders and substance use

disorders, respectively

So from what I’m understanding Is that the first part is the overall DALY not just among the conflict areas?
