Cartridges and canisters must be labeled and are color coded to identify their use specific to the kinds of gases and vapors that they protect against. 

- Cartridges/canisters with black labels are used to protect against organic vapors.

- Cartridges/canisters with white labels are used to protect against acid gases. 

- Cartridges/canisters with yellow labels are used to protect against both organic vapors and acid gases. 

- Cartridges/canisters with green labels are used to protect against ammonia and methylamine. 

- P100 cartridges/canisters are magenta. 

 

*Any other label for a gas or vapor not listed must be olive in color.
